Partner ProfilesBrandy Sloatermen
Brandy and her partners, Ryan Buell and Joe Kudla, successfully launched Vaco San Diego in May 2005. Brandy came to VACO with nearly 15 years of accounting and recruiting experience in companies ranging from start-up to Fortune 500 to Big 4 Accounting (KPMG). She has an absolute passion for building relationships and nurturing careers in the San Diego market place thus her business has grown largely based on referrals. Brandy has been nominated for Women Who Mean Business and VACO has been nominated for Best Places to Work in San Diego.
Brandy graduated from UCSB with a BA in Business Economics, Emphasis in Accounting. Ryan Buell
Ryan has more than 8 years experience in audit and project placement. Ryan started his career with Ernst & Young LLP, working with the National Practice for more than four years. He left EY to join a multi-billion dollar staffing and consulting firm where he was promoted to Division Director and grew the accounting and finance division by more than 120 percent. Ryan then made the transition to focus on consulting and special projects for CPA and MBA level candidates where he helped to grow the division by more than 110 percent.
Michelle Dumpit
Michelle began her career in 1999 with a multi-billion dollar national staffing firm in San Diego. Using a consultative approach to business development, she captured a solid client base, was quickly promoted, and became a respected 3 million dollar producer. In 2003 she joined a locally based, privately held firm as an Account Executive. Within 6 months of employment there, Michelle grew the business by 110%, became the company’s top producer, and was promoted to a management position. As a Director for both organizations, she focused primarily on administrative, professional, accounting, operations, and customer service placements. With 8 years of full-cycle staffing experience, Michelle looks forward to contributing to the success of Vaco, LLC, and continuing to provide reliable personal service. Michelle earned her Bachelor’s degree from SDSU in 1998 and graduated with honors.
Nina Gelin Foster
Nina started her career in public accounting at KPMG and gained 7 years of tax/audit experience before going to an accounting resources firm for almost two years for some consulting experience before transitioning into a leadership role encompassing business development/client service/recruiting/internal management role. She received an undergraduate degree in Economics at San Diego State University. Nina is a CPA and a member of California Society of CPA's.
Carlos Gomez
Carlos Gomez has more than 5 years experience in the recruiting/staffing industry. Carlos most recently worked at a multi billion dollar national firm as a Divison Director, where he was responsible for leading a team of Staffing Managers in the placement of accounting and finance professionals. As an individual producer, he consistently managed more than 20 employees on billing for three years, while his division maintained and managed over 85 accounting and finance professionals. During his tenure, he was able to increase his annual revenues for his division by more than 100% and he increased weekly billable hours by more than 200%. Carlos serves on the San Diego board of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting. Carlos brings his passion and excitement of the recruiting industry to all the clients and candidates that he works with.
Ryan Kelley
Ryan Kelley began his recruiting career in 1999 shortly after finishing his Bachelor's Degree at the University of Redlands in Southern California. For the past three years he's excelled at recruiting Accounting and Finance professionals in San Diego for both permanent and consulting positions. Prior to that, Ryan recruited in different industries such as Engineering, IT, and Environmental Science. Ryan joined Vaco in January of 2007 as a member of the Direct Hire team.
Jon Krauski
Jon began his career in public accounting in the Milwaukee and San Diego practices of Ernst & Young LLP. As an auditor, Jon's primary industries were manufacturing and biotechnology. Jon joined Vaco as a recruiter in 2005. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration and his Master of Accountancy from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
Joe Kudla
Joe started his career in the Assurance and Advisory Business Services practice at Ernst & Young in San Diego where he focused on auditing companies in the biotech, technology and manufacturing industries. In May 2005, alongside partners Brandy Sloatermen and Ryan Buell, Joe contributed to the successful launch of the Vaco San Diego practice. Joe currently serves clients armed with approximately seven years accounting and project placement experience in the San Diego market.
Joe is a CPA and graduated Cum Laude from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor's degree in accounting. Devlin Millay
Devlin Millay began his career in Professional Services in 1997. Prior to joining VACO Technology, Devlin held positions with major international IT consulting houses in San Diego where he was ranked in the top 5% of production annually. He has almost ten years experience in helping to identify and solve critical information technology stopgaps and providing solutions with proven resources. Devlin is a local San Diegan that graduated from the University of San Diego with a degree in Business Administration/Finance.
Chip Murphy
Chip started his recruiting and consulting career in San Diego with a multi-billion dollar international recruiting firm in April, 1999. After recruiting for only nine months, he was promoted to a Management position in January, 2000. During that year, he received the First Year Top Performer Award in his division and over the next three years with the same company, he was consistently a national top ten producer, and earned three consecutive annual incentive awards. In June, 2004, he was recruited by another multi-billion dollar international consulting services and recruiting firm, where he consistently met his quarterly goals while developing 15 new accounts for the company. In July of 2005, he and his good friend, Devlin Millay, helped launch the Vaco Technology division of Vaco in San Diego. They’ve used the 15+ combined years in the San Diego market place to their advantage, helping their clients meet critical project deadlines in filling their open IT positions. They both pride themselves on taking the time to fully understand their client’s needs and then provide them with the appropriate resources. They truly enjoy the relationships that they build, and nothing pleases them more than to reward the clients and consultants that have helped build the Vaco Technology name in San Diego. Originally from Sacramento, Chip has lived in San Diego since 1994. He received his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Political Science from San Diego State University.
Erin Spray
Erin started her staffing career in 1999 with a multi-billion dollar international staffing firm in San Diego . She initially catered to the manufacturing industry before servicing the biotech and pharmaceutical market. For more than four years, Erin was able to establish and maintain successful business relationships, train and develop junior staff members and generate a strong client base. In 2003 Erin joined a local privately held staffing firm where she played a key role in launching the Carlsbad office. She was quickly promoted to Division Manager for the Carlsbad branch and generated strong business relationships that exceeded all goals and quotas. Erin received a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Nutritional Sciences from San Diego State University .
