Excerpt from AICPA TheEdge

You'll be hard pressed to find a successful corporate executive or large firm partner who lacks confidence in their ability or decisions. But if you're like the rest of us, you're not immune to second-guessing or the occasional crisis of confidence. Leadership Coach Marshall Goldsmith offers the following suggestions for building your leadership self-confidence:

Don't worry about being perfect - Today's complex business decisions rarely have one right answer. Research the problem, weigh the options and trust your judgment.

Learn to Live with Failure - You can't experience real success without your share of failure along the way. Learn from your mistakes and move on.

Commit to your decision - Keep your second-guessing in check. Successful leaders convey confidence in their decisions and a belief that they will achieve their vision.

Demonstrate courage - As a leader, others take their emotional queues from you. If you are visibly anxious, you will undermine your direct reports' confidence.

Find happiness in your work - Life is short. Make sure to find joy in your work. Celebrate your achievements and pick yourself up when you fail.
