Reflections from Vaco Orlando

The Promise that is America: Vaco Celebrates a Year of Success and a Future of Opportunity

"The poet called Miss Liberty's torch 'the lamp beside the golden door.' Well, that was the entrance to America, and it still is...The glistening hope of that lamp is still ours. Every promise, every opportunity, is still golden in this land. And through that golden door our children can walk into tomorrow with the knowledge that no one can be denied the promise that is America." -Ronald Reagan

At Vaco, we embrace the great promises and opportunities this wonderful nation has afforded us. As we close the doors on 2011 at Vaco Orlando, we look back at a year full of progress as we watched hundreds of professionals take the next step in their career to fulfill the American dream.

Vaco Orlando and the Vaco Nation experienced an incredible year of growth in 2011. We continued to excel in providing clients with best-in-class, full-time professionals as well as long and short-term project professionals with subject-matter expertise.

In particular, Vaco Orlando's Technology division exceeded their goals, and technology professionals can look toward continued job growth and career opportunities in the upcoming year. According to Forester Research, "our first look at the 2012 outlook is for acceleration to 8.7% growth." Technology jobs will continue to increase in the year ahead. In addition to Vaco Technology, Vaco Operations experienced a great first year of business and will continue to grow and expand in the months ahead.

The outlook of staffing industries as a whole continues to steadily increase as well. Staffingindustry.com reports that retained search staffing is "projected to grow 12% in 2011 and 8% in 2012. Public companies report strong growth in 2011." This optimistic outlook keeps us hopeful for the upcoming year of placing more individuals into short and long term projects as well as permanent careers.

In the September 10th edition of The Economist, one writer states, "Firms are relying more on part-time, contract and temporary workers who are inherently more flexible. In America in 2010, the number of part-time workers reached a new high of 19.7% of all employees." The writer goes on to report that, "over the next five years 58% of them expect to use more part-time, temporary or contract employees, and 22% expect to outsource more jobs."

This is welcome news to Vaco Orlando, and we are approaching the new year with a spirit of gratitude and encouragement as we work with our family of clients, candidates, and consultants. Even non-profits are experiencing an increasing number of employees. The Economist states there is, "rapid growth of employment in non-profit organizations, where many jobs offer a sense of social purpose as well as a salary. Surveys consistently find that many of today's under 30's in rich countries want to spend their working day trying to make the world a better place as well as being properly paid and turned down jobs that do not offer such satisfaction." Vaco hopes to always support non-profits in the community and asks all clients and candidates to stand together to better our community and our lives in the days ahead.

As we look back on the success of the previous year and look forward to 2012, we owe a special thanks to the people who have dedicated their lives to make these opportunities possible. America is a country built on freedom, entrepreneurialism, leadership, and unity. Without the great leaders of our country and the men and women in uniform, we would not enjoy "every promise, every opportunity, still golden in this land." Without these key people supporting our cause of freedom, we can know that "no one can be denied the promise that is America."

As we gather around our tables this holiday season, let us offer special thanks to those who have fought to make this nation great, to the leaders who defend our liberty, and to the people of our country who unite under one banner, for one cause of loving a country dedicated to "liberty and justice for all."

May you have a wonderful holiday season! Thank you to all of our candidates, clients, and consultants for making Vaco Orlando your choice for professional career placement. May you be blessed in the year to come!

Shepherd's Hope, Inc.

Please consider joining Vaco Orlando as we partner up with Shepherd's Hope in their effort to reach out and make a difference. Each day people go without medical care because they don't have health insurance, and they can't afford a doctor's visit, diagnostic testing or prescribed medication.  Many people may think of the uninsured as very poor, unemployed or both. However, of the uninsured population nationwide, eight out of ten people are from working families that are not eligible for government assisted health care plans. Low income, working families are being forced to choose between medical care and other basic necessities, such as food, clothing and rent. Many uninsured workers are employed in small businesses that don't offer health insurance, or they are low wage workers that cannot afford to pay the costs associated with an employer sponsored plan. Some people also work at one or more part-time jobs where health care benefits are not available.

Shepherd's Hope receives its funding from caring and philanthropic companies and individuals that make the compassionate difference. For donations, volunteer opportunities, questions or if you need assistance, you may contact Cassi Brunson directly at 321-445-2100 or cbrunson@vaco.com. To research, visit their website: www.shepherdshope.org.
