Sarbanes Oxley is the most widely known accounting regulation to date.  The Enron and WorldCom disasters of the early 21st century gave way to severely increased internal control regulations and SEC compliance.  A decade later, increased technology and data mobility have shifted the risk from internal controls to information.  Data security is now the most sensitive topic with regard to accounting risk and compliance.  This adjusted focus in information security is extremely important for financial candidates to recognize.  Now is the time to educate and market yourself for what companies will be arming themselves with as regulations and compliance restrictions are passed in this and coming decades.
