Microsoft SQL Developer / BI / Report Developer


The Database Developer's role is to strategically design and implement databases across the organization, while ensuring high levels of data availability. This individual is also responsible for defining standards and models for database architectures. The Database Developer will in addition evaluate and select technology components, such as software, hardware, and networking capabilities, for database management systems and related applications. This individual must possess a thorough knowledge of reporting tools, and best practices related to business intelligence and data mining of enterprise data.


Responsibilities



  • Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for database development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders

  • Analyze user requirements and, based on findings, design functional specifications for client/server databases and database applications

  • Plan and implement capacity and resource expansion to ensure scalability of company databases

  • Assist with the design of redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets

  • Utilize data management and data processing flowcharting techniques

  • Design and deploy data table structures, forms, reports, views, triggers, stored procedures and queries

  • Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts


Requirements



  • Working technical experience with developing, installing, configuring and supporting multi-terabyte database environments

  • Experience with database platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server 2008 / 2012

  • Experience with database design applications, including Microsoft SSDT (SQL Server Data Tools) and Microsoft SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio)

  • Experience with RDBMS administration, tuning, management and security

  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio, including Database Projects, and Object Relational Designer

  • Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices

  • Hands-on experience with business requirements gathering/analysis

  • In-depth technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012

  • Working technical knowledge of current database software, protocols, and standards

  • Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques

  • Strong understanding of the organization's goals and objectives

  • Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws

  • Experience with defining and deploying OLAP Cubes for data mining

  • Experience with XLST transformations on XML data stored in SQL Server

  • Experience supporting business intelligence and data warehouse systems, including dashboards (KPI)

  • Capable in data warehousing, data integration and relational data modeling, analysis cubes, and performance tuning

  • Experience with Microsoft reporting platforms including SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Server (SSAS)

  • Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint

  • Experience with ERP/MES or manufacturing systems

  • Knowledge of financial accounting modules (GL, AR, AP, Costing, Billing, etc.) and management reporting expertise, is a plus

  • Experience working with SSIS/DTS packages


Education & Certification



  • BE or BS degree in one of the following subject areas: computer science, information systems, or computer engineering and/or seven years equivalent work experience

  • MCSA SQL Server certification required

  • MCSE with Data Platform / Business Intelligence preferred
