Bio

Christiaan Heijmen is the managing director for executive search at Vaco Raleigh, LLC, where he is part of a team dedicated to building the company’s executive recruiting practice by developing relationships with senior executives throughout the Triangle. 

Christiaan graduated with highest honors from the University of Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in hospitality management and a Bachelor of Arts in English, and also played Division I rugby for four years. He received his master’s in business administration from Duke University. Afterwards, Christiaan managed a restaurant, and then transitioned into the field of literacy, teaching reading and writing to children in inner city Boston. Prior to joining Vaco, he worked for a top tier global executive recruiting firm in New York City, where he placed Fortune 500 c-suite and executive vice presidents for clients in a number of industries. Christiaan also used his industry expertise as a leadership consultant and talent advisor in the areas of top team assessment, coaching, succession planning and more.

Active in the local community, Christiaan remains involved with The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, especially with the Fuqua/Coach K Center for Leadership and Ethics (COLE), where he is a COLE Fellow. He also serves as a mentor in the school’s McGowan Fellowship Program, which aims to encourage emerging leaders in business and industry. 

A native of New Canaan, Conn., Christiaan resides in Durham with his wife, Linzy and their son, Andrew.
