What is the most rewarding part about working for a recruiting agency?
The most rewarding part is helping others find something new to get excited about that can have a big impact on their life.
What is your role at Vaco, and what do you do?
My role is to help amazing accounting and finance candidates find new jobs in the Nashville area. We’re in the business of relationships so even if we can’t help a candidate find a great new job, or a client find a great new employee, we can offer advice and assistance for the future and maintain that positive relationship going forward.
Tell us more about your professional background. What led you to pursue a career at a recruitment company?
I spent almost six years in internal audit and always thought I would find myself in a job that was “not your typical accounting job.” Those words echoed around my head for years when I thought about what I would want to do next, but I never knew what it was.
After connecting with another great recruiter on the finance team here in Nashville and finding out we had a lot in common, I realized recruiting was an opportunity that made me more excited than anything else had in years! I’ve always loved building relationships and helping others, and recruiting allows me to do that while still using the knowledge and skills I’ve gained during my professional career so far.
What’s the most important piece of professional/career advice you’ve ever received?
Try and leave everyone with a positive impression of you. You never know the connections and opportunities that can come from a person you’ve met one time.
How would you describe the work environment at Vaco compared to other recruiting agencies?
Everyone is very supportive of all who are included in the recruiting process – the recruiter, the candidates, and the clients. We all want the best fit for everyone and don’t work to place people just to place them. We truly care about the relationships we build with everyone we talk to.
We know Vaco is your dream job, but if you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
I would love to be a party planner! The more decorations and details the better. The best parties have fun themes.
