What is the most rewarding part about working for a recruiting agency?

The most rewarding aspect of working for a recruiting firm is getting an opportunity to help people. Maybe we are getting them the job they dreamed of having, a needed pay raise, or a chance to get back to work.

What characteristics and disciplines do you need to be successful in your role at a staffing firm?

A short memory like a defensive back. You don’t want to get too high or too low. Momentum is HUGE. Also, having an ability to create relationships, trusting people and people trusting you is massive.

What is your role at Vaco, and what do you do?

I am a talent analyst for the Technology team in Nashville. I’m often the first person you speak with so I can learn all about your background and what you’re searching for. Then, I connect you with one of our recruiters so you can build that relationship and focus on the information you would want to know about our clients, roles, and the market.

We know Vaco is your dream job, but if you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

If I could do one other job (even if just for one day), I’d be a true cowboy, like a rancher. It’s really hard work, but you get to be outside, work with your hands, be around animals, and ride a horse.

What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to learn?

I’d like to be more knowledgeable about how to work on a car. I can barely change the oil. It would be cool to be able to work on engines and setup. I’m a big race fan, but I have no clue how to work on a car.

What’s one cause or organization you are passionate about?

I strongly believe in rescuing dogs from the shelter. Shelters for the most part do their best; but unfortunately, they cannot help them all. My wife and I have a rescue Pointer Spaniel/Pitt mix. I grew up with a friend whose mom really believed in rescuing dogs, and it rubbed off on me.
