What is the most rewarding part of being a tech recruiter?
I would say being entrusted with someone’s job search. Whether it’s finding someone a job they love, having a former candidate reach out when they start looking again, or them referring someone they know that is looking – It’s the best feeling in the world.
What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a career at a staffing agency?
Always focus on the task in front of you. If you show up and put in the work, everything else will fall into place.
What’s the secret to a great interview?
It’s sounds obvious, but always ask the job seeker what’s the most important factor they consider when weighing new opportunities. Then, listen to what they have to say and only send them opportunities that will meet or exceed their criteria. Everyone is motivated by different things, so the sooner you can pinpoint what they truly want, the more streamlined you can make their job search.
What is something you can do better than anyone else you know?
At work, it’s finding purple squirrel candidates (i.e., candidates with hard-to-find skill sets.) Outside of work, it’s either mixing/creating paint colors (former Painting Major) or cooking Thai red curry.
What do you think is unique about the culture at Vaco compared to other staffing agencies?
Apart from the ridiculous amount of fun we get to have together day in and day out, Vaco is home. My coworkers are family and some of my dearest friends. At the end of the day, we always lift each other up and show up for one another.
We know Vaco is your dream job, but if you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
That is a tough one. However, if there are any jobs that involve playing with a field full of puppies, I’m your girl.
