What characteristics and disciplines do you need to be successful in your role at a talent solutions firm?

You’ve got to be able to see the good in things. There will certainly be some rainy days, but as Roger Miller said, “Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet.”

If you were recruiting someone to join the Vaco team, what are three traits you would want to see in this recruit?

An entrepreneurial spirit, authenticity, and a knack for organization.

Tell us more about your professional background. What led you to pursue a career at a talent solutions firm?

I actually come from a tech background in the infrastructure world. I worked as a systems administrator for many years, but I noticed that the part of my job I enjoyed most was working with clients directly. I was speaking with a Vaco recruiter about a job opportunity he was trying to fill. I started talking to him about his job for an hour and ended up applying to work for Vaco as a technical recruiter instead!

What’s the most important piece of professional/career advice you’ve ever received?

Show up, be confident, and be kind.

We know Vaco is your dream job, but if you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

Maybe a yoga teacher. It’s a lot more Zen than recruiting, but I think I’d enjoy it.

What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to learn?

I play and teach guitar and piano, but I’ve always wanted to learn to play the cello. One of these days I’ll find enough time!
