What is the most rewarding part about working for a recruiting agency?
As an Enneagram 2 and a Cancer on the zodiac chart, my happy place is when people feel helped and heard. A lot of people come to Vaco on their more challenging days, so it’s incredibly rewarding when you’re able to find the perfect match of person to a new company!
What is your role at Vaco, and what do you do?
I wear a couple hats at Vaco. First and foremost, I work as liaison between the recruiters and business development team on our technology division. I also manage one of our top healthcare clients by ensuring they’re getting the talent they need!
What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a career at a staffing agency?
If you love people and are willing to work hard, go for it. I would also recommend reading “Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance.” It gave me a ton of insight into the differentiators of success. It’s one read that I think about at least 5 times day.
What is something you can do better than anyone else you know?
Netflix recommendations. I’m a sorting hat for television shows. My taste is a little darker, but if you give me some of your favorites, I can plan you the perfect night in. I NEVER miss the mark!
What do you think is unique about the culture at Vaco compared to other staffing agencies?
I work with all my friends. Sure, there’s always a sense of competitiveness in an industry like this one, but even so, the people I see on the weekdays are the people I want to see on the weekends. I think there’s something special about that.
What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to learn?
Sign Language! It was never offered in school growing up. YouTube tutorials are helping slowly but surely!
