What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a career at a staffing agency?

The emotional ups and downs are plentiful, and they can change by the minute. In order to sustain a career in the staffing industry, you have to be able to ride those waves and not get too high or too low. However, the inherent rewards in this industry make it all worthwhile.

If you were recruiting someone to join the Vaco team, what are three traits you would want to see in this recruit?

  1. Even-keeled
  2. Competitive
  3. Unafraid to fail

Tell us more about your professional background. What led you to pursue a career at a recruitment company?

I met with a recruiter after graduating from the University of Tennessee because I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. Ironically, she placed me in a recruiting role with a local headhunting firm. The rest is history – accepting that role was the best decision of my life!

What is something you can do better than anyone else you know?

I’d have to say whistling loudly.

What do you think is unique about the culture at Vaco compared to other staffing agencies?

Vaco provides the autonomy to run your own desk while also offering all the support you need. I guarantee we play the game better than anyone else and we definitely have more fun while doing so. The term “work family” is overused, but I genuinely love my Vaco family.

We know Vaco is your dream job, but if you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

Since this is a fantasy, I’d hop in a time machine and serve as the front man for Led Zeppelin during their North American tour in 1973.
