What is the most rewarding part about working for a recruiting agency?
Although I don’t directly recruit, being able to be a part of the process and journey of someone finding their dream job is rewarding. There are so many moving parts to the process from start to finish and being able to play small a part in that means a lot to me.
What characteristics and disciplines do you need to be successful in your role at a staffing firm?
I would say being patient and understanding with the job seekers. We were once in their shoes applying for jobs and going through this process. It’s both an exciting and intimidating process but being able to show compassion and patience says a lot about who you are as an individual and as a team.
What’s the secret to a great interview?
Read the book 60 Seconds and You’re Hired by Robin Ryan. This was recommended to me by one of my college professors and it has been such a great tool for both sides of the interviewing process.
What’s the most important piece of professional/career advice you’ve ever received?
Find a mentor, be a mentor. Having someone to look up to and follow as an example keeps me motivated and encourages me to set goals. In return, I hope to be that for others to look to when they are in need.
What do you think is unique about the culture at Vaco compared to other staffing agencies?
Everyone is truly a team player and passionate about what they do. It’s inspiring to see Vaco’s core tenets constantly be portrayed throughout the office. The collegiality is unmatched!!
We know Vaco is your dream job, but if you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
I would love to be a winemaker for a day, but in Italy!
