Steve Goodland

Steve originally joined Vaco San Antonio (formerly Aventine Hill Partners) as a CFO Partner in Houston during 2015. He moved to San Antonio to become Interim CFO at Goodwill of San Antonio.

Steve brings over 30 years of broad based experience as a CFO/Controller for internationally operating manufacturing and service companies including publicly owned, private equity backed and family owned businesses. His senior management roles have included directing the financial, information technology and human resources functions. His tenure includes completing two IPO transactions, two successful company transformations as well as significant hands on experience with a technology based start-up and developing company.

Steve began his career in the audit and advisory practice of a Houston Big 4 firm before accepting a Controller role with a client providing manufactured products and services for the downstream petroleum industry, and other heavy industry users. He was an active member of a management team that successfully navigated and grew this Houston based company through severe economic markets in the 1980’s and 1990’s. While there, he also implemented a company-wide ERP system and put in place the accounting and financial systems for several start-up international operations. Steve spent the next 15 years in VP Finance/CFO roles with four public oilfield service companies where he led two companies through IPO transactions, implemented two company-wide information systems conversions, closed and integrated multiple acquisition candidates, contributed to winning new business and growing new business lines, and managed financial operations through periods of significant growth and contraction.

Most recently Steve spent five years as the CFO with a newly formed company providing new technology to the E&P industry.  During this time the company developed and sold its first services, expanded into international markets, and grew operations headcount significantly. He was responsible for all financial and administrative support, contractual and compliance, and human resources functions including recruiting, often with little or no staff support.

Steve received his BBA in Accounting from University of Wisconsin at Madison, completed MBA coursework at University of Houston, and is a Texas licensed CPA.
