Kendra works alongside several Vaco teams, helping consultants and clients with administrative needs. When she’s not killing it in the office, you can find her at home with her husband and two fur children, binge watching Netflix. She’s just that cool.
Get to Know Kendra
How would you describe recruiting agencies to a third grader?
People want jobs. Vaco knows awesome companies who need people. Then we match them up together!
What is your role at Vaco, and what do you do?
I am the Operations Manager for the Nashville office. I work closely with our 300+ consultants and do a little bit of everything: I jokingly call myself Jr. IT, Jr. HR, Jr. Payroll, and Jr. Billing. I live in both worlds of our business (our Nashville team and our Shared Services team) which puts me in the unique position to act as sort of a liaison between them, ensuring things get done effectively and cohesively.
Tell us more about your professional background. What led you to pursue a career at a recruitment company?
I had just graduated college with a B.A., and I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do. I was working as an administrative assistant when I decided to look for new opportunities, so I had an interview with Lynzi Loyd. She was so nice, and the environment seemed very cool. At the end of the interview, I told her I’d love to interview for any openings internally (at Vaco). Luckily, they did! And within three weeks, I was working at Vaco!
What’s the most important piece of professional/career advice you’ve ever received?
Never Stop Learning. I’ve grown my role at Vaco so much because there’s so many opportunities to learn new things and branch out. I’ve jumped on those opportunities.
We know Vaco is your dream job, but if you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
A court judge.
What’s one cause or organization you are passionate about?
Everyone who knows me knows I love animals. My favorite charity is called Tennessee Death Row Dogs. They work to save dogs facing euthanasia by getting them the healthcare and home they need. If you are passionate about any organization and love shopping on Amazon (like me), you can change your browser to smile.amazon.com and a portion of your total purchase amount is donated to a charity of your choice.
