Since joining Vaco San Antonio as a CFO Advisor in 2012, Tim has focused his practice on small to midsize construction companies, principally subcontractors. This includes concrete, masonry, interior, electrical, mechanical, telecom, utility, flooring, and other specialty contractors. Services include Fractional CFO or Controller, family mediation, buy/sell transactions, Exit Planning, CPA year end preparations, special projects, financial analysis, productivity/profitability improvement, and Quarterly Financial Statement reviews. Tim began his career in public accounting with a Big Four Public Accounting firm and then joined a privately held construction / engineering company. As CFO, he actively participated in growing the company from $15M annual in sales to $525M+ annual sales and from 100 direct hire employees to 2,800.
In over 30 years as CFO and Chief Administrative Officer, Tim managed these departments: (a) IT – ERP system, 400 PCs, 50 servers, 20 remote locations; (b) HR – 2,800 direct hire employees and 50 expatriates, benefit plans; (c) Legal – General Counsel, contracts attorney; (d) Insurance – all lines including employee health; (e) Accounting & Finance, Treasury, bank & surety relationships; (f) Project controls and field office management; (g) Other administrative services including travel, state licensing and admin support, and (h) Tax – corporate, joint ventures, state & local.
