Michael spent seven years leading offices for a Fortune 500 staffing firm in South Florida and oversaw the IT staffing and consulting department. Several times while he was there, Michael was named to both the Chairman’s and the President’s Club for his leadership and personal performance. He then left the industry to pursue an MBA at Vanderbilt and started doing M&A investment banking before moving to a private equity firm where he evaluated businesses for investment, improved operations, and increased value.
At Vaco, Michael is responsible for designing and executing the strategy to increase the company’s overall value. This includes things like expanding revenue through organic and acquisition growth, engaging new service offerings, implementing new and effective sales techniques, improving processes, and ensuring resources are being efficiently used.
In Michael’s free time, he enjoys hiking, spending time with his wife and their dog, working out, trying new restaurants, traveling, and investing.
What is the most rewarding part about your job?
My core job is to create value — create value for clients by providing them the best experience, create value for internal teams by giving them more tools to expand their book of business, and create value for equity holders by increasing the value of Vaco overall. Everything I do is to improve the lives of everyone that Vaco touches, it’s very rewarding!
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
See the future. I would be able to take action today on things that would be highly beneficial for me, for my family, and for the world!
What’s the most important piece of professional/career advice you’ve ever received?
Don’t get too high on the highs, don’t get too low on the lows. Every job and every situation in life has ups and downs, understanding that that is all part of the ride helps to keep things in perspective so you can always be level-headed and make quality decisions.
We know Vaco is your dream job, but if you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
Since I only get one day, I have to go big. Astronaut on the day of launch – would be an incredibly unique experience.
What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to learn?
How to create awesome looking art. I have a passion for art and interest in creating it, unfortunately I’m just not very good at it. I am confident I could learn, but I need more time to be able to dedicate to it, one day!
What’s one cause or organization you are passionate about?
