Setting the Path for Success

by Denise Bennett-Walls* of Vaco Orlando

"Throughout the centuries there were men who took first steps

down new roads armed with nothing but their own vision." ~Ayn Rand

Vision is key to any successful business, and although you may not be able to clearly see what's ahead, someone has to pioneer the way in new paths, take on challenges, and solve problems that have never been resolved.  This is one of the many reasons I chose to become a partner of Vaco Orlando, because of their entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to excellence.

When I was younger someone once told me, "you're a unique person in the world, and you're about to go out and discover who you are and where you're meant to add value and grow".  Someone took the time to help cast vision in my life.  I took this as a challenge to not only go after this vision, but to also uncover my passion in life.

As people, we all have different passions.  Some people may be passionate about their family, work, faith, music, art, sports, etc.  In my business, the key to success is learning about what makes people tick.  What are their desires?  Do they have family?  What are their life goals?

Learning about people in my industry is critical as we match candidates to top corporations across the country, but it also assists in making them happy and successful business people, and as an end result, they become a huge asset to the company they work for.  Why?  Because they are passionate about their job, and they love the work they accomplish.  The same rule applies to corporations that need assistance in finding employees.  What are the goals, needs, and desires of the company?  We find the people that match these corporate goals. Being able to uncover the personal and professional passion in our lives helps us enjoy our work, family, and social lives more.

Prioritizing passion is key to "living large".  Living large is more than just achieving success and making money.  It is spending time with the people you love or experiencing the adventure of life through your favorite past times or hobbies.  One mentor gave me the advice to always stay balanced, to never sacrifice my family, and stay focused on the people and things closest to me.

My lifelong goals are to raise my children in a healthy, spiritual way, to have a happy family that passionately lives life together, and to be a great wife and mother.

In business, my goals are to create a successful workplace where individuals accomplish their goals.  I desire to help people and build a community that puts forth values that create an environment of achievement and adds value to the community and people in it.

In general, I have goals to support or establish non- profits that allow me to give back to the community that has given me so much, and to help me seek new adventures and learn about the world and people in it.

Overall if someone asked me, what advice I would give the newcomer in business I would say,  "understand you need preparation- cast a vision for yourself, take on challenges, discover your passion, and go the extra mile."  When you pursue and discover your passion, you will excel in all areas of your life and set yourself up for a path of success.
