Vaco is one of the highest-scoring businesses, which standout employee engagement
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – May 6, 2020 – Vaco, a talent and solutions firm that provides consulting, contract and direct hire solutions to more than 40 markets around the globe, has been named to Inc. magazine’s annual list of the Best Workplaces for 2020. Hitting newsstands May 12 in the May/June 2020 issue, and as part of a prominent Inc.com feature, the list is the result of a wide-ranging and comprehensive measurement of private American companies that have created exceptional workplaces through vibrant cultures, deep employee engagement, and stellar benefits.
This award is extremely meaningful to Vaco because of its core promise: no matter where someone is in their life, when they come to Vaco, they should come with the opportunity to retire there. This means upholding an autonomy of like-minded players who come together in the spoils of victory and who foster an environment in which all employees [Vaconians] can reach their highest potential.
Collecting data from more than 3,000 submissions, Inc. singled out 395 finalists for this year’s list. Each nominated company took part in an employee survey, conducted by Quantum Workplace, on topics including trust, management effectiveness, perks, and confidence in the future. Inc. gathered, analyzed, and audited the data; then, it ranked all the employers using a composite score of survey results. This year, 73.5 percent of surveyed employees were engaged by their work.
“Building a great corporate culture comes only from strong leadership,” says Inc. magazine editor-in-chief Scott Omelianuk. “The companies on Inc.’s Best Workplaces list are setting an example that the whole country can learn from, especially now, when company culture is more important to the workforce than ever.”
The strongest engagement scores came from companies that prioritize the most human elements of work. These companies are leading the way in employee recognition, performance management, and diversity. It is a different playbook from a decade ago, when too many firms used the same template: free food, open work environments, and artifacts of “fun.”
“It’s especially meaningful to win this award in an era of quarantine, when we have to be so intentional in remaining closer than ever while at least six feet apart,” said Vaco co-founder and CEO Jerry Bostelman. “One sunny day, not so distant, we will close this gap and celebrate in the ‘non-virtual’ sense, but until then, we’ll mark this moment as we have every victory and tragedy of this season – uniting through our lenses in a connected community of Vaconians regardless of where each player resides in that moment.”
Since its founding in 2002, Vaco has emerged as a powerhouse that delivers talent and solutions across diverse industries and to more than 10,000 clients globally as it continues to grow.
While researching the finalists, Inc. and Quantum saw distinct themes:
- 100 percent provide health insurance.
- 50 percent allow employees to bring pets to work.
- 62 percent take employees to offsite retreats to relax and recharge.
- 20 percent offer paid sabbaticals to reward length of service.
Vaco provides boutique level service with global reach in the areas of consulting, consultative project resources, executive search, permanent placement and strategic staffing. Areas of expertise include c-suite search, accounting, finance, technology, health care IT, operations, administration and international managed services. Since its founding in 2002, Vaco has grown to serve more than 40 markets across the globe, with 1,200 employees, 5,500 consultants and $750 million in revenue.
