Michael grew up on the island of Oahu, HI and was commonly mistaken for a tourist lost child as he ran up and down the sandy beaches of the North Shore. He moved to San Diego in high school and became very successful on the football field, ultimately playing collegiately at San Diego State University. After college, Michael became a teacher and prominent football coach which led to him realizing how much he loved building relationships and helping people find their own true passion. At Vaco, Michael has the privilege of working with the top accounting and finance professionals in San Diego with the chance to build genuine relationships as he guides them in their search for better opportunities.
Outside of the office, you can find Michael outdoors playing with his son, working out, and obsessing over the Los Angeles Lakers.
What do you love best about working at Vaco?
I have been in situations professionally where my growth was stunted, the environment was toxic, and I needed to make more money for my family. You name it, I’ve been there. What I love about working at Vaco is the opportunity to help others better their own situations. That could mean placing a candidate into a better work culture which alleviates stress in their lives, helping a father make more money so his wife can stay home with their children, or helping a mother gain flexibility so she can be there to pick her kids up after school. I also get to come in each day and do life with some amazing coworkers who are all on the same mission.
